The La Viña Winery is New Mexico's oldest operational winery boasting 15,000 gallons of Zinfandels, Chardonnays and much more.
Wine making began in the Rio Grande Valley as early as 1682 by the Franciscan priests, who produced wine for the masses. The winery staff proudly carries on the ancient tradition of winemaking along the Don Juan de Oñate trail—offering a state-of-the-art winemaking facility, tasting room and a beautiful patio area that’s perfect for weddings, picnics or any other special event. The wine tasting room is open from noon to 5 p.m. every Thursday-Tuesday and closed on Wednesday. Wine making tours are offered every day at 11:30 a.m. by appointment only.
Every year the winery hosts a Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp during the month of October and then a Blues and Jazz Festival in April. In September, visit the winery to support the 2010 Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk.
Nothing goes better with wine than good food and music, so pack a picnic lunch and head out to the La Viña Winery to enjoy live music in the patio area every Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Then, during the summer, visitors enjoy a country style picnic and open house on July 4th.
The La Viña Winery is a popular location for special events and can be reserved for $250 per hour. Visit the winery website for more information on event reservations and other services provided. Whether you’re looking for a fun and relaxing way to spend an afternoon or in the market for a memorable location for your special day, the La Viña Winery is a great find.
